The Coaching’dessin is an emotional method based on the mental image of the children to enable them to release their emotions and thus set of an healing process.

Why the word " Coaching " ? With the help of questions asked by the consultant, the child will find themselves their own questions and answers solutions.

Principles and benefits of the method

It is non-directive…
This means that drawings are not interpreted but questions are asked to guide the child to make their own link to their personal story.

It allows to " see " and to create oneself…
As a well known saying goes a picture expresses more than a 1000 words. Drawings can express the childs trauma and also help the child to express positive emotions. Thus they can " see " what they drew consciously themselves and how they would like to relieve themselves of their traumatic experiences. The method allows Children to express themselves without the consultant interfering. The consultant is there to guide the child.

It allows the separation from the traumatic event…
It is the drawing or its characters that speak and suffer; this separation allows the child to express their pain more easily.

It is playful…
Children enjoy drawing and destroying a lot of their drawings it is a game for them like playing with characters telling a (their) story.

It occurs in a free space of creativity…
Children feel that this space is theirs, it is their special moment of a trusted environment of trust where neither there is obligations nor judgements.

It takes into account the reality of the child…
Traumatic events can not be separated from the social context, because this context refers as an integrative part of the child’s reality.

Moreover, it is not necessary for the child to know how to draw. The goal is not to make a masterpiece but to tell one’s story….
